How Powerful is Twitter?

An experiment has just been initiated that incorporates and collaborates two very powerful Social Media Outlets.

Twitter and Facebook.

The Goal of this experiment is to see how Powerful the Twitter user base is and can an Instant Messaging Platform organize organically into one group -creating a conduit that can effectively get a message out at an exponential rate for the purpose of Good.

Additionally there is an effort to gather statistical information and gauge the "Actual" Twitter Active user use vs the monthly "Visitor" ratio's that Twitter sees in correlation to the active Facebook user.

Will this prove to organically increase the Follow rates of Twitter users? Will this increase the number of Facebook Users? Will this develop a Viral aspect?

More importantly what kind of things could a hybrid group like this achieve? What good things could a group like this accomplish?

How many Twitter Users are Face Book Users and vice versa?

I chose Facebook as the Social Network Platform for the group creation as a result of preliminary Q&A Sessions between myself and my Twitter Followers.

I asked followers which they preferred as a general Social Media Preference...Myspace, LinkedIn or Facebook. FaceBook was the majority hands down...and preliminary stats
showed that 6 out of 10 Twitter users had a Facebook account.

Additionally how active or participatory of a Community are Twitter Users? And what kind of numbers does this group of users represent?

Can The Twitter Platform (Instant Messaging) work as a vehicle to create a large Social Group (collectively and Organically) on an Existing Social Network.

This Experiment Started on December 4th 2008 at 3:11 pm EST and has grown to over 201 Members in less than 6 hours.

Will this have the "Snowball Effect"

Only time will tell but this will prove to be a very educational and informational experiment.

Twitter has proven its Powerful Social Connection on many fronts. There have been several fundraisers, community out reaches, humanitarian efforts and more through Twitter and its users.

Twitter is quite possibly one of the fastest growing Instant Messaging Platforms on the net, with over 900,000 US new visitors per month and over 3,000 new registrars per day.

A website is being developed to provide information on this experiment and what it morphs into.
